"I Have the Hair of a Weeing Tramp."...

Chef's Whites
Sorry. SAXONDALE quote there.

Let's see. What have I not written about that is of interest to anyone?

First Comic Con was entertaining, although frustrating at times too. Too many unsocialized people knocking me over in an effort to get to art not drawn for me. Some nice costumes, though, and it was sweeet watching [info]dontbethebunny with [info]nick_kaufmann and the gentleman friend, whilst sprawled acrost filthy bean bags. Woo hoo, unlaundered bean bags, soaked in geek sweat! I seriously considered buying some Dark Horse-related things (Hell Boy and The Goon, mostly.), but only actually purchased a Yummy Breakfast keychain from My Plastic Heart. Did get a freebie poster of Patrick Wilson as Nite Owl in WATCHMEN. I think I would do another one. I think?

I swear I saw Leah from TOP CHEF at the Murray's Cheese Shop in Greenwich Village. Is that possible? Also, the counterman gave us a sample of lardo. Good God! No wonder Mario Batali is obsessed with it. We ended up buying, along with a stinky sheep cheese and maple smoked cheddar, a Wisconsin-made manchego-style cheese. SOO SOO good. (I'm a Midwesterner. Cheese from Wisconsin automatically tastes better!)

Before that, my gentleman friend and I ate at this cute little restaurant, Home. We had the cheese plate (house-cured salami!), then I had the lemon game hen with the awesomest winter squash. But the gf had the cinnamon-glazed duck breast and that was amazing! One of the best things I've tasted in a long time. Just fantastic. Also had the pear sorbet, which is exactly what you want -- ice, pear flesh and skin and possibly sugar? So good. I would seriously recommend this place -- especially if one is going on a date. Very cute, very sweet and so tasty!
